ISO Container Wash – County, State

We have performed initial treatment on the sample to determine feasibility using the ClearFlow process scenario.  The results we have obtained are very good considering the clarity of the post-treated sample.  The photo below provides a visual representation of the ClearFlow process scenario.  A more detailed testing is being completed to determine the effective dosing rate of the Clayfloc for processing as well as laboratory analysis of the following parameters: C.O.D, TSS, Oil, and Grease.  These results will be available shortly and will confirm the reduction of these parameters between the untreated and treated samples.  Observations of the treated sample pictured here are large reductions of soluble components and suspended components including oils.  The chemical smell is dramatically reduced between the pre and post-sample.  In the post sample, there is a slight yellow tint which can be completely removed with additional treatment either by increasing the dosing rate of the Clayfloc or by a post-treatment of ozone injection and/or carbon adsorption.  The additional testing to be completed will determine the most effective process.

Proposed Treatment Process-

The main treatment process will be provided by the ClearFlow to provide the results shown in the photo.  The effluent from the ClearFlow can be used as recycled water for washes depending upon the quality of water required.  The effluent from the ClearFlow may be of a quality after treatment to be used as-is. A determination of water quality needed will provide the path for post-treatment processes.  In other facilities where there is a treatment process already in place, the ClearFlow can be a pre-treatment for the existing technology to remove the bulk of the contaminants reducing the burden on existing technology.

Post-treatment technology can include a carbon adsorption process where the effluent from the ClearFlow is polished by the removal of trace organics.  A high output ozone system can be employed to oxidize the effluent to reduce the organics or a combination of the two will provide the best results to allow the recycled water to be used in most portions of the wash or rinse.  A final Reverse Osmosis technology can be employed to generate spot-free rinse water for use in the interior and exterior rinsing operations.

Processing this waste stream using the ClearFlow process provides the reduction to be able to reuse the water continuously and also make the water suitable for discharge to a POTW if available.  This allows the operators to eliminate any hauling of wastewater from a facility reducing liability in performing such a practice.  The ClearFlow also provides a reduction in the cost to purchase freshwater for washing operations.  Once we have determined the volume of Clayfloc needed to effectively treat we will provide an ROI for the process.
